There's little to add with out more information but let me offer this as a
SWAG.  Check the changes to make sure someone did a PERFORM and not GOTO, or
a PERFORM THRU, or make sure your paragraph ends properly with a period or
make sure there is an EXIT paragraph if required.  These are several ways to
start executing your COBOL program in seemingly random ways.  Maybe that's
it.
