Yep, this is a 997/800. Run about 500/600 jobs per night, 1000 online users
24/7.

hmmm, sounds like a busy console problem to me....  and say, doesn't sig
sysman
have an item on it's ballot about busy consoles?  why (oh suprise), they do!
:-)  gee, if system/console messages were directed into syslog, well, then
you
wouldn't have much of a problem at all.....

btw, i know that <plug?> backpack (nee roadrunner) </plug?> allows for
directing
messages like what you're talking about to different users.         - d
