We have a script which runs every week. it uses MPEX to retrieve and
current capacities and howmessy to check on other items. The output of this
is ftped to my pc and imported into a ms access database. then with queries
of the history of the datasets it looks at growth for all datasets and messy
pointers for detail paths and master Secondaries. The output queries
identify datasets needing increases or decreases. These are handled via a
job stream streamed during the day and deferred so that just after out
backup the capacities are altered with an Adager stream before users are
allowed to connect to the server. if you would like any of these scripts I
would be happy to provide them.

Subject: DB Capacity Formual
As I monitor our DB's I have to increase Master/Automatic data sets on
occassion to maintain a certain percentage of free space in these data sets.
Is there any formula to determine the new size of a data set when adding 'X'
number of records to it?
I've searched the archives and haven't found anything yet.
