The first part of your message reflects my analysis exactly. We must
be able to offer even more powerful reasons. One powerful reason I
suggest is that not mentioning MPE has negative consequences which
include undercutting the credibility of HP's and the HP 3000 user
base's investment in the platform; the credibility of IT professionals
who "defend" the platform; the credibility of HP's legacy of above
average customer support and investment protection.

We (the HP 3000 community) have tried the non-"protest" methods for
several years so far without the desired results. What do you
suggest of a non "protest" nature that will break the log jam?

A "protest" has two advantages in my mind. First, it underlines the
idea of the marketing tactic as harmful. People "complain" when they
don't get what they want, they "protest" when they feel at risk.
Second, to the outside world I suggest that the net effect can be
neutral to somewhat positive. A protest is a news item around which
a journalist could write a story about the HP 3000. At a minimum
the word gets out about the HP 3000.
