I should have clarified that.  We still expect to use Jazz
as the 'first line' software distribution mechanism for
stuff that is ported either by HP (Java, Samba) or by
partners with whom we are working closely (GNU).  At
roughly the same time stuff is put on Jazz, we'll also
give it to Michael for inclusion in the next rev of the
freeware tape.

Michael is also taking software from other sources which
may not ever show up on Jazz.  If some of these are
high-demand items, and Jazz is a preferred distribution
channel for some people getting the software, we may be
able to arrange to take in submissions from additional
sources.  There are also alternatives such as the 3K
associates web page, which has a number of downloadable
freeware products.  INTEREX is not planning to make
the freeware available for ftp access (as far as I've
heard).
