If you can not trust the hpversion variable how can you trust the first 4
lines in the file HPSWINFO.PUB.SYS.
If you can trust the file then why not a system variable. Those of us who
manager multiple systems and have scripts which we try to have standard
across the systems really need a variable to help us identify ci features
which have been added. The latest one I am struggling with is the function
jinfo. Please help us reduce our maintenance.

There have been enhancement requests to have the User Version reflect the
power patch level, but I believe they are are generally going to be left
alone. The feeling is that it would be difficult to trust that xx.yy.02
actually means you are on Power Patch 2, when you could have subsequent
patches installed, or even have some power patch 2 patches "backed out".

However, if you REALLY wanted to, you CAN change the User Version in
Sysgen...Misc..
  misc> system userversion=C.60.02

Of course, you'd have to be diligent about changing it anytime you apply a
power patch. All in all, listing theh first 4 lines of HPSWINFO is the
easiest way to tell.

Matt
