Thanks, I already have most of the manuals from HP respecting the
HP3000 and its software in pdf files on my desktop.  Including the
ones on KSAM and FCOPY.

There is something odd going on which no doubt will be explained at
some point and a suitable solution found.  I doubt that I have run
into a major bug in QTP after twenty odd years using the same software
every day.

In the meantime, I have a suitable post-processing solution which
deletes the nul records on the target FreeBSD host using sed:

sed '/\x0/d' QPCSVAAQ > QPCSVAAQ2

It is an inelegant but completely functional solution in the event the
problem cannot be solved on the HP3000.
