I'd like to thank all of you for the responses you've given me on the System
Variable command files that are posted on JAZZ and at Denkor.

I got quite a few suggestions on enhancements people wanted. My first
attempt only stored strings, and they also allowed anybody to change or
delete them. Well I've now come out with my second attempt. The new
variables support all three types (String, Integer, and Boolean) they can
also be set at the System level so that anyone on the system can use them,
or at the account level so only those logged into that account can see and
use them, and at the user level so only you can see and change them. I've
also added a Secured Variable that can be set by the System Manager or the
Account Manager at the account level that won't allow the common user to
change it. You can now also use full expressions on the SETSVAR command just
like standard variables.

So now for the good news, Jeff Vance has agreed to post the New System
Variables (now in UDC form) on the Jazz Server sometime early next week, Tim
Ericson has also agreed to post them on the Denkor site soon.

Now for the bad news. Starting in December I will be taking a new job, and
they do not have any HP3000's so I will be unable to do any future
enhancements or any kind of support for them.

Now for the other good news. Because of this I have asked Jeff Vance it he
would take over for me on this project. He seemed like the most logical
person and he has agreed to do so (Thanks Jeff). We have found these System
Variables to be invaluable here and I'm sure all of you can find many more
uses for them.

If you would like me to send you a copy of the UDC as well as the
Documentation I will do so, or you can wait a week and get it from the Jazz
or Denkor sites.

Again thanks for all the encouragement I got from all of you, I will miss
being a part of the 3000 community.
