I too have only had one job experience where Dictionary/3000 existed.  I
learned a lot of good concepts then and I have tried to focus on the concepts
even in the absence of the tool.  I'm keenly interested in what you discover
with ...
'things like "mysql", "db2", "postgres", or any similar "sql-based"
database/rdbms'

We are all in some manner faced with the probability of having to reengineer
ourselves.  In the non-MPE database world, that means SQL.  If you discover
anything interesting about SQL and dictionaries, I think that it would be
usefull info for quite a few of us on this list and I personally would like
to hear about what you discover.
