Yes, that is exactly what I have to do.  I log on over
an ISDN line to the MVS machine, preallocate the files,
check my directories, then logoff, return to my MPE/iX
session, and put the files with FTP.  Works like a
charm.  I've never tried to send a file without preallocating
it on the MVS ... but if you've got a way of setting file attributes
to whatever your MVS application expects, I can't see why that
wouldn't work.
