Steve,

Like I said in my original message, the third party software uses a specific
port to print to the JetDirect. In NBSpool, the portion of the syntax is:
PTYPE=LJ. This tells the software that the port to use is the HP JetDirect
port. If you say, PTYPE=2501, then it will use port 2501 to talk to the
printer. This is useful for the NetJet - Emulex printer server since this is
the port it uses. I wonder if it would be possible for HP to allow the same
type of syntax. IE: id=2100 to print to port 2100 (used on the Xyplex
printers).

What type of printer do you have? Maybe we can test this out and see if HP
already has this feature built in, but just not advertising it. (would you
advertise the fact that you can print to GASP! someone else's printer? I would,
but then...) If the feature is not in there, maybe we can ask for it.
