I need to provide a solution for printing from a Digital Unix system to a
HP
system running MPE. The HP system is running Lan Manager already, so the
question is: What is the simplest/cheapest way of setting up printing
between systems like that?

I have found 2 solutions.

1. Pathworks v5.0 for Digital Unix (LAN Manager) (expensive)
2. Samba, if it works on Digital Unix (inexpensive)

The problem with the first solution is price, as it will only be used
to print to this HP system. But how about Samba?
Is it stable enough to run in a "production environment" ?

We use Samba on our Linux and HP9000 boxes to allow Windows fwg and
Windows 95 clients to connect without tears to the large disks and
printers on these machines.

It would be glorious if a port of Samba to the HP3000 existed!
Then we could use the HP3000 as the worlds finest and most reliable
server.
Please advise the group if such an animal exists.

Cheers
