Cortlandt Wilson responded to an earlier posting by me with some very
good questions. I will attempt to answer some of them to the best of my
knowledge...

====================================================================
> where can you find a dozen good quotes from IT managers comparing

> new systems on the '3000?

I believe that I have seen a number of postings here regarding how to
find these. AFAIK: There are a number of these stories on HP's site...
see: "www.businessservers.hp.com" and follow the links to "Industry
Successes".

====================================================================
> Where can you refer someone to quickly and easily get their hands on
> that study the Gardner Group did a few years ago?

I can't help you here - I have never seen the actual study. Maybe
someone else can help out here...

====================================================================
> What resources are available to train MPE newbies?

See the 3000 NewsWire May issue when it comes out. In it you should
find an article about the state of training in the MPE arena. The good
news is there are options. The bad news is there aren't many. Most of
the available options are not very cost effective in that they involve a
great deal of time away from the office, in addition to the cost of such
training.

In addition, you might check out the new "HP IT Resource Center" that
was officially announced yesterday and due to "open for business"
sometime today.  See:  "http://ITResourceCenter.hp.com".

Of course, the most obvious inexpensive answer is to read the Interact
series for newbies and subscribe to this list.

====================================================================>
Where would you refer a busy journalist to go to find information
> and quotable sources on the HP 3000?

How about sending them to the HP3000-L list server? It seems to me
that a great deal of information and quotable information is generated
on this list.

====================================================================
> Where is the list of the "open system" services for the '3000 from
> all sources? (HP, 3rd party, freeware, Interex CSL)

I believe that this answer lies somewhere on the horizon. Currently,
you can independently search the 3k.com website or www.hp3000links.com
maintained by John Dunlop. These appear to be the two most
comprehensive listings for services and service providers. You might
also check on HP's own CSY site or on the Interex site. You could also
check HP's new "IT Resource Center" (see above)

The horizon part of this response has a lot to do with private
development that is being done by Client Systems. An announcement
should be made in conjunction with HP World. I hope I am not letting
the cat out of the bag here, but this could affect the way that we all
deal with the HP 3000 platform. Please see contact Client Systems at
(303) 337-7300 if you need early details.

See my answer to the previous question.
