You should see an immediate improvement  .......

HOWEVER, if you are trying to reduce the time it takes to complete that
lengthy stand-alone batch job that runs every night, you will be
disappointed to discover that there will be absolutely no reduction in
elapsed time after your upgrade.

A single process can utilize only a single CPU at a given time - no matter
how many CPU's are embedded in the same box.
