We have been experiencing a lot of user disconnects issues lately and have not
had a lot of success in pinpointing what is causing the problem nor finding a
good solution. We have multiple HP3000 processors located here on site and the
problem seems to be occurring on almost all of them but we have not found any
commonality. We have checked our network, hardware, software, configurations,
etc. with no luck.

Good Morning Wilson, and welcome to the 3000-L,

We are going to need a bit more information.

1) What version of MPE are you on? 6.0 - 7.5?

2) The command

LINKCONTROL @,a

will let you know what is happening on the network from the HP3000's point of view.  Feel free to post the output to the list.

3) RUN NETTOOL.NET.SYS -->  RESOURCE --> DISPLAY

will show you if you are running out of buffers.

BTW, the linkcontrol @,a will tell us if you have a 100mbit full duplex or 10mb half duplex card.

It is important to hard configure the switch to match the speed of the 3000.  In the old days auto sensing was different depending on the vendor.  So it is almost required to do the configuration manually.

If you do the command

NMMAINT, it will give us the version of your network software.

Regards,

-Craig
