Here is an off the wall question...

We have some HP DeskJet 820 printers that we would like to use
temporarily as slave printers on HP2392 terminals (parallel printer
port).  "Dumb" DeskJets work fine, but the 820 produces no output,
not even when using the plain Shift-Print key on the terminal.
You can see the cursor scan the screen, but no output on the printer.
Any ideas/clues/hints/tombstones?
