Just FYI, a friend of mine who frequents alt.2600, a hackers newsgroup,
recently informed me of the posting of several documents relating to HP
3000 system hacking. I recently reviewed the documents to check for any
dangerous material. Although these documents were very basic in MPE
flaws (the most severe stating that some operators leave FIELD.SUPPORT
unpassworded), there were threats of more upcoming posts which would go
into further detail (article HPTUTORIAL) about other methods of 3000
destruction. Of the 3 guides, 2 of them dated from MPE V or earlier, but
it could be wise to maintain a guard. There were phone numbers posted to
some HP mainframes and some BBS's which distribute the hacker
information, if anyone is concerned.
