Actually Interex, the name, was adopted later than 1984-1985  I believe it
happened after the Detroit 1986 conference, maybe even after the 1987 Las
Vegas one  (That was when DEC had it now!, remember?).  I do remember the
1988 Orlando conference having a seperate vendor show for HP-UX and HP1000
stuff, for the first and last time.  It went over like a lead balloon.   In
subsequent years there was only one vendor show.
 
One thing I am sure of however is that we did not "join the 1000 group" as
you say.  It was the other way around.
