Currently, we connect our California office PCs, terminals and printers
serially using Codex multiplexers over a 9600b analog leased line to our
HP3000-957SX (via DTC72MX) in Massachusetts . We need to add more devices in
that office and there is no more room on the mux. As I see that the DTCs are
connected to HP via LAN, is it possible to put that DTC on the remote site
and have the LAN (does it become WAN?) use the telephone line? If it is
possible, what communication devices and service would be changed? Do I need
any special software on HP (we are using MPE 6.0)?
Also, please note that we do not have any LAN (outside the HP cabinet) - but
I am trying to learn how to set one up (our parent company has ordered us to
have one - to run Lotus Notes!!). Will the above LAN to LA office may help me
at that time?
I will appreciate any help in this regard.
