if...
- you have an apc upc with a network management card *and*
- you're allowed to use snmp within your environment
...i have have a collection of scripts/jobs that will monitor the health of the ups and can do an automated shutdown in the event that you've switched to ups power and the batteries are low enough to warrant a (graceful) shutdown. (the extent to which you can shutdown depends on your mpe release).
if you're interested, let me know. - d

Subject: [HP3000-L] UPS Power Trust not working?
Hello Listers - (anyone still out there?)
We're running an A400 under 7.5 with an old UPS: HP Power Trust.
Normally, when we experience a short power outage (30 sec - 2
minutes), the HP3000 keeps running, with the '*** RECOVERY FROM
POWER FAIL ***" message.
Twice within the last month, we've had these minor outages, the most
recent last evening just before 9:30 PM EDT. Once power was
restored, the Autoboot started, but I'm trying to determine if my UPS
is going bad. As you'll see from the screen shots below, the
UPSCNFIG file was accessed last night at the time of the power
failure.
I ran UPSUTIL.MPRE.TELESUP to 'restart' the UPS - status appeared OK
before and after. Any way to tell what might be causing the UPS to
not kick in?
Thank you,
Connie
