Hmmmm, interesting.
It doesn't work like that for me:
Command me: build testfile;rec=-80,,f,ascii;disc=1
Command me: listfile testfile,2
ACCOUNT= AIHDEVEL GROUP= SHUGARTP
FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE----
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
TESTFILE 80B FA 0 1 3 0 0 *
Command me: comment purge testfile
Command me: do list
Command me: listfile testfile,2
ACCOUNT= AIHDEVEL GROUP= SHUGARTP
FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE----
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
TESTFILE 80B FA 0 1 3 0 0 *
Command me: # purge testfile
Command me: do list
Command me: listfile testfile,2
ACCOUNT= AIHDEVEL GROUP= SHUGARTP
FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE----
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
TESTFILE 80B FA 0 1 3 0 0 *
Command me: #purge testfile
Command me: do list
Command me: listfile testfile,2
ACCOUNT= AIHDEVEL GROUP= SHUGARTP
FILENAME CODE ------------LOGICAL RECORD----------- ----SPACE----
SIZE TYP EOF LIMIT R/B SECTORS #X MX
TESTFILE 80B FA 0 1 3 0 0 *
Dumb question, but are you truly at the colon prompt? Perhaps something is intercepting your commands and stripping off the "#"? Wish I could help. That's just bizzare.

We have noticed that in a session directly at the prompt, any command prefixed
with COMMENT is treated as, well, a comment and not executed. On the other hand, a command prefixed by '#' is executed.
There is no difference between COMMENT and '#' in a command file or in a job
stream.
Is this normal?
