  Jim,

You may want to look at any new jobs or recently modified jobs that create some kind of check file and then purges it at the end. Like maybe someone is doing a BUILD INFILE at the beginning of a job stream and then doing a PURGE @IN@ or something like that.

  Chuck,

No, MCOMIN files from different groups are being deleted. I don't think this
is something in the MANMAN code that's doing it. I'm not aware of anything
program in MANMAN that would delete the MCOMIN file.

We have a number of third-party packages running on the HP3000 also. We did
identify one third-party package that did delete an MCOMIN file on one
occasion, but we can't prove for sure that it's the same software package
doing it all of the time. That's why we need additional ways to determine
what is deleting the files and when they're being deleted.

Thanks,

Jim.

Jim,

Is the same MCOMIN file being deleted each time ie: only in one data base
group ?

I have never had any normal process purge a file like that in MANMAN.

To all,

We are running MANMAN version 9.1 on an e3000/N4000-100-33, MPE version
C.70.01, and MANMAN's MCOMIN files in our manufacturing databases are being
randomly deleted by some process. It seems to happen a few times a week,
between 6pm and 9pm. Most user activity ends by 5pm. We are running
scheduled jobs between 6pm and 9pm.

We have multiple manufacturing databases and one MCOMIN file in each
database, but usually only one MCOMIN file is being deleted.

We already turned on file logging with LOGTOOL to capture logging event
number 105 (NM file close). We found one job that is deleting the files, but
we suspect there may be more than one process involved.

One idea I had was to change the file permissions on the MCOMIN files so
that purging the file is not allowed. Read, write, lock, etc. would be
allowed, but purging would not. So if something tries to purge the files,
then the purge would be disallowed and the job or program would abort, and
we'd know exactly what is purging the files.

Is there a way to change the file permissions to disallow purging of a file?
Here is the LISTF,-3 on one of the MCOMIN files (with creator and lockword
blanked out):

********************
FILE: MCOMIN.MDATAB20.PROD

FILE CODE : 0 FOPTIONS: BINARY,FIXED,NOCCTL,STD
BLK FACTOR: 128 CREATOR : XXXX.XXXXXXXX
REC SIZE: 2(BYTES) LOCKWORD: XXXX
BLK SIZE: 256(BYTES) SECURITY--READ : ANY
EXT SIZE: 4(SECT) WRITE : ANY
NUM REC: 257 APPEND : ANY
NUM SEC: 16 LOCK : ANY
NUM EXT: 1 EXECUTE : ANY
MAX REC: 257 **SECURITY IS ON
MAX EXT: 1 FLAGS : 13 ACCESSORS,SHARED,13 R,13 W
NUM LABELS: 0 CREATED : SAT, DEC 23, 2006, 2:36 AM
MAX LABELS: 0 MODIFIED: THU, DEC 28, 2006, 1:53 PM
DISC DEV #: 33 ACCESSED: THU, DEC 28, 2006, 2:12 PM
SEC OFFSET: 0 LABEL ADDR: $000000D5.$0065E820
VOLCLASS : MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:DISC

However, I'm not sure if doing this would cause problems with MANMAN.

The missing MCOMIN files are also causing MANMAN-related jobs and EDI jobs
to abort.

Does anyone have any other ideas on this?

Thanks,

Jim.
