Hi Chris,

Glad you like it, you seem to be in good company! To answer your questions:

1. The record terminator difference is basic to the differences between
Dos/Windows and "Unix" style OS's. There are several text editors that have been developed which automatically deal with the differences. 'PFE' is a
shareware editor that you can find out on the net which I believe is one of
them. I've not played too much with Wordpad, so I can't comment there as
well. There (supposedly) was some code contributed to the main Samba project to automatically do these conversions under certain circumstances, but
it is not scheduled for inclusion until version 2.0 (which I don't have a clue as to when they expect that to be released. They are still active in the
bug fix stage on 1.16).

2. You need to run nbmd from INETD specifying the 'wait'
option. An entry in the INETDCNF.NET.SYS file would look
something like this:
netbios-ns dgram udp wait MGR.SAMBA /SYS/SAMBA/NMBD nmbd
(substitute logins and paths accordingly)

Good luck with the product.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Dancing the SAMBA !

Hi all,

Another successful SAMBA/iX installation ! It's COOL !!!
Thanks to all involved and Lars/iX in particular.

Onlt two minor quibbles:

1) How does one get around the CR/LF difference ? Files on MPE created by Samba
now get CR/LF instead of just LF. Conversely, because of missing CR's, MPE files are
not displayed correctly by Notepad (Wordpad does them just fine though).

 2) Is anybody running the nmbd daemon ? When I start it in a job with

        !job smbd,mgr.samba
        !xeq smbd.exe.samba "-D -d 5 -p 139"
        !eoj

    it just exits silently.

TIA
