Howdy,

Lemme see if I can get this straight. The scene is a 987 running MPE/iX
5.0.5 the tape drives are both DDS-1 and DDS-2.

Mount a tape, MPE says it sees the tape.
Dismount the tape. Don't write to it, just put it in your pocket.
Do a SHOWDEV n and MPE happily reports you still have a tape mounted.

Mount a tape, MPE says it sees the tape.
Do a DOWN n. MPE says no tape.
Do a UP n. MPE says no tape, although the little critter is still mounted.

A call to HPRC reveals someone else has had this problem the SR
is 5003318774, but I can't find it anywhere. I don't think it's all
that big a deal, but it almost bit us on our unattended backups.

Whuups...wife's done with the milking, I gotta go churn butter.

Regards,
