One question? Are you talking about the client or the server?
i.e. inbound to the 3000 or outbound from the 3000.  The timeouts
I have seen are typically on the server and I know HP-UX ftpd
has a ~ 900 second timeout...  So to answer this question I would
need to better know if the 3000 is the client or server.
