Yes Craig......just a little outside what I was thinking.

Our job is for preservation work at the HP Computer Museum (www.hpmuseum.net).

We are just looking to restore images onto a disc for demo purposes. So, even powered down life is not important, but cost is. We have found that IDE->CF works great as a hard disc replacement in old DOS PCs. SCSI2SD is a great low-cost solution (for Apple), but doesn't work with HP. We are looking for a low-cost, single disc SSD for HP 3000 computers.

Has anyone on tried to install a McLaren P1 engine in their SUV?
Sorry I couldn't resist.
Of course you could buy and XP24000 Array with 512GB of cache. It also handles SSD's.
Then you would have speed, fault tolerance and no bank account.

Does anyone use solid state SCSI drives on their HP-3000 to replace the old SCSI drives? It sounds like a great concept. I tested SCSI2SD, but they don't work with HP-3000 or HP-9000 computers.
