( Greg menitonjed that a lot of OS/390 developers don't know what their job
card or JCL options are doing - black magic - just copy them)

When I was woking in OS/370 at Ma Bell, I was an overeducated and
overqualified JCL clerk. As is my nature, I made sure I knew what every
option on every line was for. Since a lot of the JCL I worked on was OS/360
era, there was a lot of optimization to do. Ah, the myriad options you can
specify for the way your files gets stored on a disc drive!

I worked on JCL from the operations angle, not the developer's.

one MVS capability I really missed in MPE was the ability to implicitly
concatenate files in JCL.
