Yosef - I am surprised at this blanket statement. Based on this should the
French have not offered resistance to the Nazis when their country was
occupied? If the British and French had stood up to Hitler during his march
to the Rheinland - in 1936 - WW2 - at least in Europe - would have been
averted. At a very small cost. Even some German generals were waiting for a
signal - from the British or French - to start a putsch. The signal never
came.

By this assertion I suppose they did OK - until September 1939. Of course
by then the Wehrmacht & Luftwaffe were a bit larger.

By your assertion should they not have declared war on Germany when Poland
was invaded?

Read William Manchester's book, "The Last Lion". While it is a biography of
Churchill, it gives an excellent backdrop into the politics of the 1930s.

Even the Czech army, in 1938, was the match of Hitler's - but the British &
French sold them out all in the name of "peace". The British got "Peace In
Our Time".

As for the current stance of the Germans, French and Russians, there is a
wonderful essay written by an Iraqi - former head of their nuclear program.
It's at work; will be glad to send it to anyone emailing me for a copy.
(hint: follow the money).

He tells you why these "inspections" are doomed to failure. The politics of
Iraq vs the world today are frightenly similar to the 1930s. With a couple
of exceptions.

Now with chemical and biological weapons a container the size of a
breadbox - with the right delivery system - can kill 100,000 people. Does
anyone doubt that al Queda would have used this if they had it in NYC?

Bill
