Jon,
Great! Two things, add a comment from Fred about the additional money
they spent and the financial strain it placed on the company. And,
secondly, I want to audition for the roll of Joe, I am really good with
smug grins.

>Ok, since this seems to be "everybody's a wanna-be ad man" season,
>here's my submission for an HP3K TV ad script:

>Joe: So, Fred, I hear you guys are making big changes...

>Fred: Yup, we're in the fast lane now, buddy. As soon as we finish
>our data migration from our legacy system, get the latest round of
>patches installed to fix our crashes, fine-tune our performance
>settings to solve the response time lags, and re-train all our users
>on the new software, we will be rockin' and rollin'! Then we'll be
>able to start looking at all the cool cutting-edge stuff like
>web-enabled applications. Hey, what's that you're doing?

>Joe: Oh, just flipping through some of the forms on the new web front
>end to our system. We went live last week with a java-based
>client-server model with direct web access to all our data, intranet,
>extranet, full mission-critical production database deployment with
>near-instantaneous response and 99.9% uptime.

>Fred: What? I thought you were still on that old dinosaur system
>you've had for the last twenty years!

>Joe: (turning with a smug grin) We still are.
