According to the 2003 MPE I/O roadmap presented at HPWorld by Jim Hawkins:

 >Blue items are HP Corporate Price List as of July 2003 but not certified
by vCSY for use with HP e3000 systems.
 >"VS80, VS160 (a.k.a. DLT1 or DLT1.5) these are low cost DLT devices with
3MB/sec performance.   Uses DLT IV media but >cannot overwrite media
previously written by DLT4/7/8000 devices (requires that tapes be degaussed).
 >"SDLT with SDLT data cartridges stores 110GB uncompressed and achieves
11MB/sec sustained I/O rate.  Able to READ >DLT IV cartridges written by
DLT4/7/8000 devices.

 >During our initial evaluation of SDLT and VS80 devices we found some
minor incompatibilities with our existing tape >drivers.   These
incompatibilities along with uncertainty (at that time) about HPs Tape
Roadmap and the fact that they are >not 100% media compatible with existing
DLTs lead us to the decision to not invest in these devices:

The bottom line is that SuperDLT is NOT supported by HP.

Whether or not they will work with the N-class is unclear to me.
