If a non-system volume fails the system does not crash. The application
using that volume group may encounter errors. If you are using hot-swappable
JBOD such as Jamaicas then you don't even need to bring the system down to
replace the bad drive.
Since I don't know what was in your presentation, alas I do not have an
Interex proceedings fro back then, I cannot say what has changed. I doubt
you missed anything.
