However if what you want is an integrated print queue so that you can manage
what is being sent to the printer you will need to have a LPR/LPD service
somewhere.

Even better yet, if you're only using HP laser printers or don't mind
putting
external HP JetDirect boxes on your non-HP printers, you can get rid of any
network printing software and the external PC print server altogether, and
in
doing that, increase your speed of printing dramatically as well as increase
its overall reliability. Network printing is one of the better things that
HP
has done recently for the HP3000 and it's very simple to set up.
