I see some possible problems. The 1st and 3rd FILLER need to be
initialized to the Escape character, 27 (Hex 1B).

The second is the Typeface code at the end is 0, yet I see code 256 for
"Bar Codes" in my manual. The beginning code "0Y" correctly selects the
3-of-9 bar code, but I think the "0T" at the end might need to be
"256T".

Bar codes might be a special case of font, but if these parameters
apply, the current settings look wrong. Are the 8.11 chars per inch
"8.11h" and the 12.0 points "12.0v" character height correct? I don't
know about the CPI, but seems like the bar codes are at least 1/4" (18
pt.) to 3/4" (54 pt.) high. Do those measurements apply?

I looked at the 9000 manual and the Bar Code fonts (0Y thru 15Y) don't
seem to be mentioned. Are you downloading them properly? Using the
Information Menu on the printer control panel and select PCL fonts, you
can see what fonts are currently installed on the printer, either
internally or by download. I know some of the laser print formatting
packages for the 3000 also handle the font downloads. Usually the font
download utility is a daily job run in the morning to initialize all the
printers, in case they were shut off overnight.

Hope that helps.

Subject: [HP3000-L] BARCODES AND OCR

Has anyone out there had any experience with printing barcode and ocr
with a hp laserjet? Using a Laserjet 9000. Trying to use the
following:

01 BAR-CODE-AREA.
           05 FILLER PIC X(01) VALUE " ".
           05 FILLER PIC X(03) VALUE "(0Y".
           05 FILLER PIC X(01) VALUE " ".
           05 FILLER PIC X(20) VALUE "(s0p8.11h12.0v0s0b0T".
006400 05 BAR-ACCT-NO PIC X(15) VALUE "*1800870352103*".
005700 01 DISP-OFF1 PIC XX VALUE " Z".

DISPLAY BAR-CODE-AREA to get it to print.

Not printing bar code. Just displayed line flashes on screen.

Would you have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ted
