I read somewhere that by using the tcp_port_number=3001 parameter in the
NPCONFIG
definition of a printer that I could print from the HP3000 to my PC's
printer. I tried, but
could not make it work. Here's what I did.

npconfig: 800 (network_address=206.244.74.200 # IP address on my PC
                        tcp_port_number=3001)                      # LJet
connect to LPT1:

ioconfig: ad ldev=800;id=hptcpjd;path=none

startspool 800

When trying to print to device 800, get the following error message:

Native Mode Spooler message 9656

Output spooler, LDEV #800: Cannot communicate with network printer. Check
network
xport config, NPCONFIG.PUB.SYS, xport and links status, intermediate
network, and
printer status.

The spoolfile's status is ACTIVE and stays that way forever.
Spooler for ldev 800 never aborts on its own.
All other npconfig'd printers that are connected to our network work fine.

Has anyone ever tried this and been successful?
