I can't help you Gehan, I don't know much about the incident except what I
read recently which closely matches what Bruce said.

My comment was not in reference to this border patrol incident; I was
addressing Bruce's rewriting of history.

Well please help us out Denys. I work a crazy schedule and this week
I've been a little behind on the news. The first I ever heard about
this situation was when I flipped on cnn tuesday night and heard lou
dobbs talking about what a travesty it is that these guys were
convicted and the president won't pardon them...

I was a little upset that he (lou) gave no facts whatsoever? Never
once said where they got shot, why they shot, the trial. No
information for me to make any kind of decision as to their guilt or
innocence. Unfortunately usually that means the facts in the case
paint a really bad picture for the defense..

I mean, I thought to myself, if some official border guard was in a
situation where he felt threatened enough to shoot in accordance with
the rules of the job then so what. Why should I question that
judgement, I'm not trained to make that decision. I imagine it's just
the same as when any police officer is involved in a shooting. The
circumstances are investigated based on witness testimony and on most
cases probable caused is found. Officers are trained to show restraint
and make those decisions and in most cases they do the right thing.
Probably 90% of officers if you asked them would say firing their
weapon on duty is one of the last things they'd like to do that day.

Now on the other hand do officers use that judgment wisely 100% of
the time? Obviously not, Otherwise you wouldn't have people get shot
40 times by police. Also you have dirty cops, cops who murder for fun,
or profit. I'm sure there is a pretty large list of dirty cops out
there that could be prosecuted for murder. Look at those soldiers in
iraq that killed that girl and her family. Even at war we are not
immune to felony charges based on the abuse of power.

So now that being brief is a distant memory. Please tell us what the
facts are and why this is such a travesty of justice, or why this guy
deserves everything he got? And please include the facts to back it
up. Don't just dobbs it and tell me bruce is crazy. Show me...
