(several years ago), and rather than try to deal with the code changes
to support the new DST policy, hp decided to stop making the 3k.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Daylight savings time & new energy bill
Since daylight savings is reportedly going to last 4 weeks longer,
starting in
2007, who has a new routine for the HP3000 to know when to change its
clock ?
