I was thinking Glance to show whats going on.
But showdev tape will show if the device has been allocated yet.

I have some vague memory of similar instance
where I thought it should be reading the tape.
But the software was doing house cleaning and just took 
awhile before it got to the actual restore.

Hence, the thought of Glance to show whats happening,
cpu% etc.
