we created our own file...rather mysteriously named 'blank' :-) it contains
nothing except for an 'esc E' (oh look! she upshifted something :-) that
escape sequence resets the printer. with everyone using the laser printers, who
knows what kind of pcl string has been set. a simple reset starts everyone
(well, the mpe users :-) with a 'clean slate'. if i'm remembering correctly,
you can still specify your own pcl file with ':file....;env=<blah>' and it will
get used. - d
