I just want to mention one other aspect of this thread; it is one of the
longest off-topic threads I have seen so far on this list and (as it is
entirely inoffensive and also interesting) none of the 'waste no bandwidth'
purists have been heard from.  BUT, let something be slightly potentially
offensive to some possibly imaginary subset of all humanity, and all of a
sudden bandwith becomes too precious to fritter away in mindless and
irrelevant chatter.
