You're all correct. The 3000/33 (or 44 or 48 or 58 or IIILC) runs on:
208v SINGLE PHASE - in the US a single 208v (rms) phase is
provided
by connecting between 2 phases of a 208v 3
PHASE
panel - i.e. adding "2" 208v phases that are
separated by 120 degrees gives a single 208v
sinusoid - NOT TWO PHASES - typical
industrial
power
OR 240v SINGLE PHASE - in the US a single 240v (rms) phase is
provided
by connecting between "2" 120v phases that
are
separated by 180 degrees - typical house
power
