Hi Jim & Tracy,
Hmm.... I looked into this a while back... as our 2563B is scheduled to go
off maintenance and our Epson DFX-5000 printers died (Thank God!!! hehehe)

I ended up buying the LPQ 1200 (Forget the HP number ... starts with a 'C'?
hehe) and it uses the spool type of ribbon....works pretty good and I get the
"reloaded" ribbons for about $8 from a local supplier up here in the
Northwest... :)

Art "hmmm.... now who ever heard of "Coho" Winds???? hehehe" Bahrs

Answer to Question #1 only: I've seen lately a new HP (label) printer
that uses two large reel-to-reel spools of ribbon, like an old fashioned
teletype or typewriter. They're about an 1.5 inches or 2 inches wide.
I've also seen some (shudder) IBM brands that use this scheme. I'll get
the model number tomorrow if I get a reply to this.
