I have been very impressed by the response from everyone at HP.

I can identify with Scott's comments, given the fact that "there have been
some [potentially] mis-leading statements made about" Adager in relation to
the fundamental problem. For instance, Adager was "the innocent messenger
of the catastrophe" in some cases, and Adager was used in some other cases
in attempts to "fix damaged datasets" that did not result in the desired
consequences, due to the hopeless initial state.

People tend to apply convenient labels to things and such labels tend to
stick around. The ill-named "DBUTIL/erase problem" label has been one of
these unfortunate instances where the poor messenger gets shot. This is
nothing new, as the Ancient Greeks can attest :-)

I want to close by expressing my congratulations and my thanks to everyone
involved in tracking and solving this problem.
