Yes, this is one form of freeriding, one that gets a lot of attention
due to the high exposure and risk for serious injury. Other parts of
freeriding include more trials-like stunts where you balance on skinny
logs at various heights above the ground. Teeter-totters, jumps and
other imaginative stunts are part of the game...
My accident was amazingly unspectacular and not related to freeriding at
all other than the fact that I was on an FR trail at Whistler. Where I
crashed was exceedingly simple, flat, wide, low to the ground, etc...
Perhaps I just let my guard down and was being too nonchalant?...
