I posted a similar question a couple of weeks ago. Like you, I also tried
Telamon's freevt3k (both versions). I was using Glance as my 3000 test
program, and both versions had screen drawing problems.
Other than freevt3k, the only other suggestion was to have your Linux X server
invoke hpterm on an HPUX machine and from there either telnet or VT into the
3000.
