Hmm... if MPE had a 'real' termcap and a 'real' terminal line setter,
such as getty, then the terminal could perhaps be autoset anyways...
Being from the dark ages of MPE/V I would not know for sure, but
shouldn't MPE/POSIX at least support a "set term" or "eval tset" function to
autoset the terminal from within the shell (worst case) ?

Not just Sun... the SGI platform supports SoftWindows, which allows
MS-Windows apps to be run on the X Windowing SGI platforms, much in the
same manner as Macintosh SoftWindows.
