If I understand correctly, the basic building block you need is command-files
to go back and forth between any yyyymmdd date and an integer number of days
since some base date -- pretty much like the cobol functions integer-of-date
and date-of-integer. Also, HP has date intrinsics with with at least as much
capability (see chapter 9 of your MPE/ix 6.0 communicator).
If nobody feels like writing all the leap-year math in MPE, it might be easier
to write a program that would do a getvar and a putvar, and call cobol
functions or intrinsics in between.
I wouldn't mind having such a tool, but I don't have time to write one now.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Does anyone already have this CMD file?
Hi all,
I checked on JAZZ, but didn't see this CMD file. I want to
see if anyone has this file (or something close) that they'd like to
share before I set out to write it on my own.
I need a CMD file that can take the current var, hpyyyymmdd,
on every Monday, to determine the hpyyyymmdd values for the previous
Friday through Sunday. The trick is jumping back to a previous month
and/or year. It'd be great if we had a converter that could convert
hpyyyymmdd to hpdoy and back - then we could do this really easily (umm,
that was a hint for Mr. Jeff Vance ;-). Heck, while I'm dreaming, an hp
var that had the Julian date since 1500 AD would be really juicy, too.
TIA for any/all help, and have a great weekend!
