Jeff,

I don't pretend to understand all the particulars of "this and that
feed" and "firewalls" etc, but I am sure that you can work out the
details!!

It appears to me that there is not an obvious way to debug this problem,
except to enable the newgroup feed and to work through the prblems as
they come up.

I encourage folks on the list to be as patient as possible because I
think, in the long run, having a reliable Newsgroup feed will be well
worth it. Some of the advantages (as I see them) are:

* Ultimately much better participation by the MPE/iX lab engineers in
both CSY and CSY-Bangalore if they can use a newsreader instead of
  the mailing list.
* Much better participation by CSY management if using a newsreader.
Many of the higher level maangers, the same ones that can do something
about many of the issues raised here, are **FAR** too busy with other
stuff to endure the overhead of getting hundreds of e-mail messages.
Some already use the Newsgroup feature, others use the digest, most
(or all) would prefer to use the Newsgroup.
* Lots of generic advantes to accessing the info via a Newsreader
  - Some have fancy sorting and filtering (so do some e-mail readers)
  - Most have more advanced searching capability.
  - Most perform better by not downloading the "body" initially (some
    e-mailers do this also)
  - Separate mechanism from e-mail which helps reduce the "clutter"
  - etc.

All I am saying is that I hope we stick to it and solve the problem
rather than giving up and pulling the plug.

Thanks
