We constructed an excel spreadsheet, that uses FTP to push a file from
the PC to the 3K.
In the spreadsheet, the user defines the filename.group.account where
the file should go.

On our 957 (6.5) test machine everythings works just like we expect, but
on our 959 (7.0)
the file (when the user defines the file including the group name) is
placed in the HFS space
with the group name as an "extension", instead of in the MPE file space.
If I remove the ".group" from the file name, and let the file default to
the home group
of the user's logon, then the file is placed into the MPE file space.

The inetd job is identical on both machines. I didn't set this up and
don't claim to remember
the details of inetd. Is this a "difference" between 6.5 & 7.0? Or is
there some configuration
file that must be different?
