(I guess this is Jon's way of answering my "is it a PP or ER" post :)
However, the Response Center says:
A "power-patch" is nothing more than the current group of
general-release (GR) patches.
An "express" is the package that includes the current power-patch AND
the current subsystem tape. The term "express" will be used when a
subsystem has been changed such that the patch is not adequate-- at
least one subsystem must be replaced in this case. And of course that
is also the case when a new product is added.
...which is exactly what I thought the definitions were (although I'd
quibble about the spelling of PowerPatch/power-patch :)
However, the Response Ceter went on to say:
The term "express" should not have been used for release 60.01. The
Commercial Systems Division (CSY) decides whether to call a release
"express" or not-- their current definition does not match exactly the
definition you and I have been using since who-knows-when. They decided
to call 60.01 an "express" because "a change was made"-- which is true--
but the change did not affect a subsystem, only an internal structure.
The truth is: the update from 60.00 to 60.01 DOES NOT REQUIRE a
subsystem tape UNLESS you are adding a new product.
So...it's a PowerPatch after all.
Jon...will HP start referring to this as just PP1 instead of ER1?
thanks,
