We have a number of employees who depend on being able to dial into
the HP 3000 (and HP 9000) over high-speed modems. The modems are
connected to DTC modem ports. Currently all our modems are configured
for software flow control, which means that the modem will generate
its own XON/XOFF characters to control the HP 3000, and will 'listen'
for the same from the HP 3000. Can these DTC ports support hardware
flow control, where the modem and DTC control each other using modem
signals such as RTS and CTS? If so, is there any advantage to using
one method over the other?
Side question: currently the DTC's maximum serial speed is 19200,
even though theoretically our V.34 modems are capable of faster. Is
there any model of DTC modem ports that supports faster than 19200?
Regards, Mike Shumko, Robelle Consulting Ltd.
